a performance piece. in light of the 2018 Kavanaugh Trial, I compiled a video of every day news clips addressing sexual assault cases. examples often spoken of very casually and normally, numb to the realities at hand. I walked in with a glass laundry basket, filled with delicate garments collected from women who have been victims of sexual trauma. While the video played, I began washing the garments and hanging them. after finishing the laundry, i took them back off the hangers, and recollected them into the basket, only to repeat the cycle. i did this until the video traced back to the 1991 hearing of Anita Hill. the emphasis was how often women go about their domesticated lives, casually living in this cycle of “normality” that goes on repeating.
